The Pupil Progress Tables that follow represent pupil progression based on the analysis of pupil progress data, and take into account our extensive knowledge of the progress which pupils in Pioneer House make over time.
Pupil progress takes account of emerging, developing or secure attainment of skills, recorded via the RAG rating data assessment system.
In addition to the data system result, other factors and evidence relating to the individual student are also considered, when making the final assessment of a student’s rate of progress.
Rates of Progress - Definitions | |
---|---|
ABOVE EXPECTED PROGRESS | Student has exceeded the criteria for expected progress. |
EXPECTED PROGRESS | Student has met the criteria for expected progress. |
BELOW EXPECTED PROGRESS | Student has made some progress, however they have not met the criteria for expected progress. |
NO ADDITIONAL PROGRESS ASSESSMENT ACHIEVED | Student has not secured any assessed outcomes during the assessment period. NB Student may have may have made some progress, if further outcomes have been assessed as emerging or developing, during the assessment period. |
For each key stage the tables below show:
1 years progress targets for PH indepedant curriculum core and foundation subjects taught over the whole year.
The rate of progress category, mapped to the percentage of assessed progress to be secured each year in order to achieve that rate of progress.

*percentage progress is dependent upon the level (assessment outcome band) and prior attainment of a pupil entering the year or key stage (see pupil progress charts).
Some foundation or vocational subjects may only be studied for part of the year. For example, where they are delivered in a carousel with other subjects. These subjects may only be taught for two lessons per week, over 1 or 2 terms in the year.
For these subjects, the rate of progress for all students across each key stage is adjusted according to the extent to which the subject has been taught. For example, expected progress may be judged to have been achieved if a student secures one assessed skill per term taught.
In addition to the data system result, other factors and evidence relating to the individual student, are also considered, when making the final assessment of a student’s rate of progress.
